| Artisans at
Work began in 1999, but the Artisan/Craftsman background of owner Kurt
Wahrmund goes back way before then. Kurt began working in the home renovation and remodeling field alongside his father, a contractor, William Augustus Wahrmund at the age of 15. He continued to help his father with his contracting business throughout his teens and into his twenties. Kurt would work with his father during the day, but in the evenings he began to learn the artistic craft of theatrical set building. Kurt built theatrical sets for many of the well known theatres, in San Antonio, Texas. Kurt continued to work in this manner until he decided to try his hand at set building in the Film Industry in Los Angeles, California. |

| In
1989 Kurt moved to Los Angeles, California. His first position
was as the coordinator of the building of this beautiful custom home in
Encino, California. He was right there from the ground breaking,
until the new owners moved their belongings into their fabulous new
house! |

| While Kurt
over-saw the building of the custom home in Encino, he began to lay the
gournd work for finding a position in the Film Industry. As soon
as the Encino, home was completed Kurt began working as a set builder
in the Film Industry in Los Angeles. He built sets for many
films, and television commericals. One of the most well known
sets he worked on was for the major motion picture, " Stargate ". |

| Kurt's
interests in creativity and craftsmanship brought him to a position in
a company in Los Angeles that created specialized props and set pieces
for Museums and Theme Parks, as well as for motion pictures, and even
music videos. Here you can see Dr. Seuss Land's Horton before it
was placed atop the Caraseussel at Universal Studio's Islands of
Adventure, in Orlando, Florida. And you will see Quazimoto and
his bell at Disneyland in California. |
| Kurt, his
wife Laralee and two children, Kris, and Chandler, decided not long
after the 1994 earthquake that they might be happier living back home
in San Antonio, Texas, where the ground doesn't shake. At least
not that they have noticed. They all moved home to Alamo Heights,
Texas in 1998. Not long after their move home, Kurt and his wife
Laralee, created their new business, Artisans at Work. Our clients have been like family to us, and they know they can call at a monents notice. Business has been great, and so far, the gournd hasn't trembled once. |
